In the name of God Amen I John Collett of Naunton in the County of Gloucester being in body sick but of good and perfect remembrance I thank my God do make this my Last Will and Testament in form and manner following:
First, I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my maker by whose mercy through the merits of Jesus Christ I believe to be saved
My worldly goods I dispose and bequeath in the manner following:
First, I bequeath unto Sarah my daughter the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid this spring next following
Item I bequeath to Henry my son one hundred pounds to be paid him at the spring come twelve months
Item I bequeath another hundred pounds to Anthony my son to be paid him this time three years
Item I bequeath unto Edmund my son a hundred pounds to
be paid him when he shall be one and twenty years of age this time six
years (as crossed out, as below)
Also I bequeath unto Alice my daughter one hundred pounds to be
paid when she shall be twenty years of age this time six years and if it
shall happen that any of my said children shall depart this life before they
are possessed of this my bequest my will is that it shall be bestowed amongst
the rest of my children aforementioned by even portions
Item I give to Henry my son a yoke of oxen to be delivered
unto him at such time as mine overseers shall think good
Item I bequeath to every one of my other sons a yoke of oxen
to be delivered unto them also at the discretion of mine overseers
The rest of my goods unbequeathed I give and bequeath to
Elizabeth my wife and John my son
Also I give and bequeath unto Julian A Deene a yearling Heffer
Also I bequeath to every one of my kinsmen who are my Godchild Godsons
a sheep to all the rest of my Godchildren I give twelve pence apiece
Item I give unto Margaret my servant a sheep
Also I give unto Elizabeth my wife my house and yard land at Nether Slaughter the term of her life and after her decease that Henry my son shall have it
Item to the poor of Over Slaughter three shillings three pence
Also I bequeath unto the parish church of Naunton ten shillings

Item Henry Roberts of Buckland oweth me four and twenty pounds to be paid on St Marks day next
Item Starson men owe me for three weigh and four quarters of barley at two shillings three pence a strike
Item William Collet of Stanley (Leonard Stanley) my cousin oweth me nine pounds thirteen shillings four pence
Item Andrew Cooke and Thomas Hicks of Grethen oweth me fifteen pounds ten shillings
Item Mr Rowles of Nether Slaughter oweth me fifteen pounds

My will and desire is that my brothers Thomas and Anthony and my brother in law John Venfield shall be overseers of this my Will and Testament in witness of the promises I have put to my hand the fourth day of March 1604 and in the second year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord James by the grace of God King of England Scotland France and Ireland Defender of the Faith
